In his late teens the artist used to drive his MGA around the country roads north of his oldest sister's farm, the same farm depicted in the very early oil "The Land Baron". On one of these rides he discovered the house depicted in this watercolor and painted a portrait of the house from the front. Now more than thirty years later, after a family Labor Day gathering at the farm, the artist drove "Back For A Visit" to this same house and was intrigued by the marvelous textures and the evidence of the attempts of the elderly homeowner to ward off the elements and painted this view of the back door and yard in his return visit.
