Deliciosa
Egg Temera

Every Spring the artist looks forward to the emergence of the apple blossoms and other forest plants which signal the arrival of the Morel mushroom. When the May Apples, Jack-In-The–Pulpits and the Dutchman’s Breeches start to push their way through the matted leaves of winter, it is time to begin the search for this wonderful, choice, edible mushroom. This is one of the outdoor activities that the artist and his friend Bob (subject in the acrylic painting “Bloodroot” and the watercolor, “Looking At The Moon”) enjoy doing just before fishing season. One memorable spring, they together picked over six hundred specimens under one stately dead elm tree. Whether sautéed in butter or stuffed with crabmeat they are definitely, “Deliciosa”.
