BARELY A BREEZE
Egg Tempera
36 x 48 inches
Collection of the Artist
Mark Freeman Memorial Award, 50th Anniversary Exhibition of the National Society of Painters in Casein & Acrylic

While driving through the country one day, the artist passed a house and on the front porch suspended from a wash line was a fringed, Amish buggy blanket. There was just enough movement in the air to cause the fringes to dance slightly in the breeze and there was a delicious shadow cast across the pattern of the blanket. The artist immediately went home and drew the scene from memory. Years later, after finding just the right blanket at a country auction, the artist proceeded with the idea spawned on that springtime drive through the country on a day when there was “Barely A Breeze.”
